I should really invest in hals coughdrops considering the worrying rate I’ve been going through them. Flu season has finally caught up with me it seems, and along with that comes headache and dizziness meaning that I’m driving nowhere soon. Fun stuff.
So today has been all over the place for me, emotions wise. I went to the new MOSI and was really impressed by the new exhibits. I was able to get more reference photos for the project, and talked with the front desk about being able to take photos inside the old building for my project. The new location is actually right next to the old one, literally 100 feet from it. I also noticed quite a few of the old exhibits sprinkled throughout, with many of them having less functionality than before (ex, a crane control exhibit that used to have three stations, with two operating cranes and one operating a conveyor belt in the center is now just one station with one crane). After returning home, I received this emailI decided to continue working on the project, and plan to make future contact with the staff regarding being able to get into the building, as I want my replica to not just be hollow buildings. Anyway, I’ll upload my new photos soon, and I’ll leave you with a progress GIF for the time being.
This occurred to me a number of days ago and is weird as all ever, but it seems that (atleast in the tech world) 8 is an unlucky number.
- Windows 8 was initially a mess and a major pain to use,
- Minecraft 1.8 broke pretty much anything back-end related (command blocks, plugins, redstone, etc)
- IOS 8 brought along apple music, ugh.
- Youtube fell apart 8 years after its launch, with the addition of G+ and the “revamped” comment system, leading to massive backlash.
Anyway, that’s just a few things I’ve noticed, I’m taking off my conspiracy hat now. (Thankfully we stopped counting Funland versions at 5)
Work is wrapping up on the new futureland project, as our two new rides are now complete with audio. On the right you can see the skyline which will open later this year, with new narration audio. In the center is the new Space Journey which is twice as long as the original and now takes you to mars. Finally is Alien Super Shooter, a combination of two former rides into a new survival shooting attraction. Were really thrilled to get this open next week and get everyone’s feedback on the new attractions.
Progress on the Polar Express is finally wrapping up, and we appear to be on track (sorry) for a Dec 15th release, with the video releasing the same or next day. I’ve been very pleased by our ability as a staff to all come together and work on one project as a whole, and have it look like one work. For the time being though, here are some teaser images.
